Personal, Poetry

heat

i love you

in the way that

the heat descends down

upon a lively city

you cannot see the heat

yet it permeates everywhere

and it is felt by all those

who reside within its reach

surfaces grow hot

hot to the touch

sweat drips down bodies

down cheeks, legs, backs

even as night descends down

and puts some of the heat to rest

morning sun revives the heat

and the light keeps the heat everlasting

winter must come, though

heat something to be wished for

to be yearned for

yet winter isn’t the absence of heat

it’s heat transformed,

between two lovers,

snuggling throughout the night

to keep warm
